About Us

Bear Valley Academy is a community organization of educators and families designed to encourage, empower, and develop young children. BVA was founded in 2004 as a ministry of Bear Valley Church.

We believe in encouraging our students' natural curiosity, nurturing their strengths, and learning through hands-on participation in an academically enriched, relationship-focused program. We focus on educating the whole-child by allowing space for each student’s individual needs – academically, socially, and emotionally. We strive to achieve this through emergent and developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our intent is to build our students’ confidence and self-worth as lifelong learners.

What Sets Us Apart

  • We believe in providing an encouraging, Christian environment where our students can develop in the love of God.

  • We believe relationships are the foundation for learning and value our small classroom ratios which allow bonds to be developed between students and teachers.

  • We believe that children should be encouraged, and we strive to create an environment of kindness where students feel empowered to be confident leaders, set an example for others, and have a positive sense of self-worth.

  • We believe that early education is important and that all children should have a love of learning. We take pride in creating positive and fun learning experiences for all students in whatever stage they are in.

  • We believe in partnering with our community of families through strong communication using a variety of avenues, including our Kinderlime app and positive parent-teacher relationships.

  • We believe children learn through participation and allow for a wide variety of hands-on, teacher and child-led learning opportunities while still maintaining a structured setting.

  • We believe in preparing students as a whole-child, through a Reggio Emilia inspired curriculum, serving their academic excellence and social development.

  • We believe our staff are what make our school a great place to be and know the worth of creating a team of loving and experienced teachers. â€‹â€‹

Safety Practices

Security Camera & Doors

Our campus is monitored by security cameras throughout our building at all times, and our doors remain locked.

Child Safety

All children must be signed in when dropped off and signed out when picked up with their personal PIN number and guardian's signature, per state requirements. A child will not be released to any person besides the parent or guardian unless the school was given previous notification from the parent. Identification will be checked.

COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols

Bear Valley Academy follows all minimum recommended health protocols for child care centers per Texas Health and Human Services and Child Care Licensing. In addition to the required standards, we have adopted additional COVID-19 protocols consistent with our school's specific needs and circumstances to help protect the health and safety of all employees and children in our care.

School Safety

For the protection of our students our center has monthly fire drills and lock down drills, regular inclement weather drills, emergency drills, annual Health Department inspections, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services/Child Care Licensing inspections, Texas Department of Public Regulatory Services inspections yearly, and annual fire code inspections.

"Bear Valley Academy has been such a blessing to our family!  We love the small class size and the flexibility of days offered.  But most of all, we love the teachers!  They are so warm and thoughtful, and they help each child feel like they belong in their class.  It is apparent that they spend a good deal of time outside of work planning activities and our boys have learned more than we ever expected."
